Level 2 Kayak proficiency courses for beginners are held at the club from June to August and run twice a week on Tuesday's and Wednesday's for 4 weeks with the last session on the Saturday or Sunday after the last mid-week session.
The Level 2 Kayak Skills Award aims to enable participants to:
1. Kayak safely and competently on flat water, Grade I rivers, very sheltered coastal areas as a member of a group of peers.
2. Be able to carry out basic safety techniques with the assistance of another member of the group or the person in the water.
3. Be able to safely plan and carry out a trip in a flat-water environment considering all relevant factors.

These popular courses are often the first step to becoming a full member of Phoenix Kayak Club. During the course you will be introduced to basic kayaking strokes and techniques and taught how to kayak safely.
All courses are led by qualified instructors and assisted by members of Phoenix Kayak Club.
Course times are typically from 6.30pm - 9.00pm. We do ask that you arrive on
time as late arrivals may not be allowed on the water for safety reasons.
All safety and kayak equipment is provided to course participants. However we reccomend you bring a wetsuit if you have one and suitable footwear.
Footwear is compulsory, We do not provide these for hygene reasons.
Courses are open to everyone over the age of 12.
The cost of the course is:
Adult (18+) 130 euro
Juvenile (under 18) 100 euro
